Should Leeds United try and sign the Arsenal wonderkid on loan?

Every Leeds United fan and their dog is aware of the fact that Thomas Christiansen needs another striking option this month. Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Kemar Roofe don’t inspire confidence that they can fire seventh-placed Leeds into the Premier League come May and reinforcements are vital.

Ideally, fans will want a tried-and-tested Championship striker with some experience in England’s second tier, but it looks unlikely that a proven goalscorer at this level will join.

And if the Whites do indeed fail on this front, should Leeds take a look at a loan move for Arsenal wonderkid Eddie Nketiah?

The 18-year-old hitman scored twice for the Gunners’ Under-23 against Manchester United last night to make it a phenomenal 54 goals since the start of the 2015-16 campaign at youth level.

Of course, scoring goals at that level means precisely nothing in regards to the Championship, but Nketiah also bagged a brace against Norwich City in the League Cup back in September which should illustrate that he can mix it with second division sides.

Arsene Wenger is a big fan but the under-pressure Frenchman won’t have the luxury of experimenting with Nketiah again this season.

And surely a six-month loan in the Championship is better for his development than continuing in the Under-23s until May, a level he’s clearly too good for.
