Leeds United are said to be interested in bringing Dwight Gayle to Elland Road.

Leeds United may have reason to consider taking the £10 million offer from Tottenham Hotspur for Jack Clarke, as it could provide them with a chance to land Dwight Gayle.

The Daily Mail claim that Spurs are ready to bid for Leeds youngster Clarke this summer.

It would unquestionably be a blow for Leeds to lose Clarke, but if the money could be used to fund a move for Newcastle United striker Gayle then it may be worthwhile.

TeamTalk have suggested that Leeds want to sign Gayle, but are currently struggling to afford him.

However, if they bring in £10 million for Clarke, then the possibility of reinvesting that money to sign Gayle would surely become a temptation.

There is an argument to suggest that Clarke could become worth far more than £10 million, if he stays at Leeds and progresses at his current rate.

However, Gayle would make a more immediate impact on Leeds’ first-team.

The Whites have lacked a clinical finisher, but Gayle guarantees goals at Championship level.

The £10 million (Northern Echo) predatory forward scored 24 goals in the second tier last term, and he could reach that total again with the kind of service he would get in Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds side.

Although Clarke’s future looks very exciting, signing Gayle could be pivotal in Leeds’ search for promotion, and the Whites should consider letting one of their prized youngsters go, if it would enable them to bring in the Newcastle forward.
