Leeds United wanted Sam Field on loan from West Bromwich Albion in January and now would be the perfect time to revive their interest.
West Brom clearly think very highly of 19-year-old Sam Field.
After all, Tony Pulis doesn’t describe just anyone as ‘gifted as any footballer I’ve seen at that age’, as reported by the Birmingham Mail. The teenager, who offered glimpses of his potential last season, started the opening day victory over Bournemouth and impressed in the centre of midfield.
Nonetheless, Pulis is keen for Field to spend time on loan away from The Hawthorns to ensure he gets the first-team football required to speed up his development.

“If he goes out on loan we want him to go to a Championship club,” former Albion favourite Darren Moore, now the club’s development phase coach, told the Birmingham Mail. “He’s got interest from several Championship clubs which is great for Sam.”
The report claims that Derby County, Norwich City, Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley are all interested.
Playing the Field
However, with The Sun reporting on transfer deadline day in January that Leeds were keen to give Field a platform to showcase his quality, will they join the chase for one of the Premier League’s most exciting youngsters?
The report claims that Field rejected a move to Elland Road as he was keen to continue his development at The Hawthorns but, with Gareth Barry set to arrive from Everton, according to The Mirror, his first-team opportunities may be limited in the next few months.
Yet, Field’s technical ability and impressive passing range could come in handy for new Leeds coach Thomas Christiansen, who aims to encourage a more expansive style of football than pragmatic predecessor Garry Monk.

With Mateusz Klich adding to a midfield containing Liam Bridcutt, Ronaldo Vieira and Eunan O’Kane, you wonder whether there would be any space in Leeds’ squad. Yet, Christiansen should find the room for a player who could provide some much needed quality in possession.
