Derby County midfielder Bradley Johnson played for Leeds United for four seasons.

Derby County’s Bradley Johnson has today suggested that a return to Norwich City could interest him, but Leeds United should test the water to see if a move back to Elland Road would be similarly appealing.

Derby are said to be open to selling some of their first-team players this summer (Derby Telegraph), as Gary Rowett wants to raise funds.

And Leeds could benefit from checking to see if Johnson is one of the players who the Rams have made available.

Johnson spent four seasons with Leeds, between 2007 and 2011 – and he helped the Whites end their time in League One and get back to the Championship.

Johnson has since gone on to play for Norwich and Derby, and he has been a vital player for both clubs.

However, with Johnson having just two years left on his deal with Derby, his future has come into question.

And Johnson’s comments about a return to Norwich, certainly don’t suggest that he’s intending to spend the rest of his career at Derby.

He said to the Eastern Daily Press: “I wouldn’t rule it out [a return to Norwich]. My family has moved to Bishop Stortford and that’s not far from Norwich, and what I’m looking at now, given I’m 30…if something ever arose for me to come back to Norwich then I would never say no.”

Leeds, of course, do not have the geographical advantage that Norwich do – but Johnson is known to have enjoyed his time with the Yorkshire club.

And If Leeds could convince Johnson to move to Elland Road, it would be a real statement of intent from the Whites ahead of the upcoming campaign.
