Junior Hoilett is still looking for a club, so should Leeds attempt to bring him to Elland Road?

This week saw Nottingham Forest take a gamble on controversial striker Nicklas Bendtner as a free agent, and there are other quality players still available.

Leeds United are one of the Championship teams who should still be looking to strengthen, after a disappointing start to the season which has them sitting in 21st position after five games.

A player who could instantly transform their options is winger Junior Hoilett, who remarkably remains without a club.

Hoilett’s contract with Queens Park Rangers expired in the summer, and as their director of football Les Ferdinand explained via the Kilburn Times, the winger had been holding out for an offer from the Premier League.

The 26-year-old cannot wait forever, and may be forced to ‘settle’ for another Championship move.

QPR remain an option open to him, but instead of returning with his tail between his legs, Hoilett may feel he is better off taking a completely fresh start.

Leeds could offer that to him, as well as strikers who could potentially thrive off the service he can supply, with Chris Wood and Marcus Antonsson requiring more opportunities to get open.

Hoilett made more than 100 appearances for QPR, while he also had Premier League experience as a youngster with Blackburn Rovers.

He netted six Championship goals last season, a figure which would have made him Leeds United’s third highest scorer.

Leeds have wide options with Stuart Dallas and loanee Hadi Sacko, in addition to the versatility of Kemar Roofe, but Hoilett would strengthen them even more in a department which has been a weakness for them over the past few seasons.

There is no guarantee that the ambitious Hoilett would take up an offer to join Garry Monk’s side, but Leeds should at least make an attempt to see if he can be persuaded to sign, at least until the end of the season.
