Leeds United are set to be on the look out for a new striker in the summer.
Leeds United looked at the League Two market last summer to snap up Kemar Roofe, and they may have similar success by scouting the Football League’s basement division again when the transfer window re-opens.
Roofe has been a success at Elland Road this season, and although it is clear that he has taken some time to adapt, the 24-year-old has certainly added quality to the Whites’ team.
Leeds now have the opportunity to repeat a similar deal by swooping for Stevenage’s Matt Godden.
Godden has been the stand out striker in English football in 2017, after netting 12 goals in his last 12 games.
The goalscorer possesses a vast amount of pace, and also has proven to be a ruthless finisher.
Godden has only made the step up from non-league football recently, but he has coped with playing in League Two excellently.
Godden has netted 20 goals in total this term, and looks capable of playing at a higher level.
At Leeds, he would have a great opportunity to settle in, before becoming a key player.
Leeds are on the look out for a new striker, as they need to add cover for Chris Wood.
The Whites currently have the likes of Marcus Antonsson and Souleymane Doukara that can play up-front, but neither have convinced.
Wood is likely to remain as Leeds’ first-choice forward next term, as he has been in such good form this season, but that could provide Godden with the ideal chance to flourish.
Godden could be eased into first-team life at Leeds next term, which would provide him with the time needed to make the step up to Championship, or even Premier League, level.
And Leeds should seriously consider taking a punt on the Stevenage man, when they inevitably attempt to make attacking additions in the summer.
