Leeds United could well be on the look out for a new goalkeeper this summer.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, a host of Championship clubs are interested in signing Edouard Mendy from Reims, and there must be a question over whether Leeds United should be one of them.

West Ham United and Newcastle United are both believed to be scouting Mendy, alongside a clutch of Championship clubs.

The Reims stopper has developed a reputation as one of the finest players in Ligue 2, and has a £2 million asking price over his head.

Mendy has kept 17 clean sheets over the past campaign, and at 25 he has plenty of years ahead of him.

With Championship sides looking at him now, Leeds would appear to be one of the more obvious candidates.

Since Victor Orta has taken charge of transfers they have regularly looked to the European leagues for potential signings.

Although Leeds are yet to deal with a French side, they have taken players from elsewhere across the continent, and it would not be a surprise if Mendy was on their radar.

He could be a good signing for the Whites too, as they may well target a new goalkeeper this summer.

Leeds currently have Bailey Peacock-Farrell as their number one, but a more experienced option could be a good alternative for Paul Heckingbottom.

Mendy already has a promotion under his belt, having won the league with Reims this term, and he could prove a valuable addition to Leeds’ squad, if they were to get him this summer.
