Middlesbrough and Birmingham City are interested in signing Sheffield Wednesday star Barry Bannan, according to The Star, and Leeds United should join the race for the former Aston Villa midfielder in the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old midfielder has had injury issues in recent times, but there’s no doubt that he is a quality footballer who would enhance the quality of the Leeds midfield.

If Tony Pulis’s Middlesbrough, who will be aiming to clinch a place in the Championship playoffs next season, think that the former Aston Villa man is good enough for them, then he is good enough for Leeds.

The former Celtic prospect scores goals and creates chances, and he is also a force in the middle of the park.
