Should Leeds United make a move for Jordan Hugill of Preston North End in the January transfer window?

Former Leeds striker Whelan told BBC Radio Leeds: “Hugill? Preston North End? Okay, you would swap that any day for Leeds United and come to Elland Road.
“That’s a very good striker, 23 years of age I think he is. Worth £10 million now, you get him for £10m. End of this season, you would probably have to pay 12 to 15.”

Leeds need to sign a proven goalscorer who can settle into life at Elland Road right away and bang in the goals.
Jay-Roy Grot is very young and raw and has failed to make an impact at Leeds so far this season, while Pierre-Michel Lasogga has been inconsistent.
True, Kemar Roofe has scored goals when he has been deployed down the middle, but Leeds head coach Thomas Christiansen does not always deploy him in that position and plays him out wide.

Hugill is a good striker who knows the Championship well. The 25-year-old has scored eight goals and provided one assist in the league so far this season, while in 2016-17, he scored 12 goals and provided two assists in the Championship.
Preston are doing well and are in the running for the playoffs, and they may not be willing to sell Hugill to Leeds in the January transfer window.
However, Leeds should at least look into the possibility of signing Hugill from Preston this month.
The striker’s stats may not be great at the moment, but playing in front of the likes of Samuel Saiz and Pablo Hernandez, he will get more chances than he does at Preston, meaning that he will score more goals.
