Leeds are still looking to find a replacement for Garry Monk, following his unexpected departure from Elland Road.
And the Whites are under pressure to find a successor for Monk sooner rather than later.
Leeds are risking being left behind by their Championship rivals, unless they get their act together.
And Lambert could be an appealing appointment for Leeds, given his past success in the second tier.
Lambert has guided Norwich City to promotion to the Premier League, and he was doing a solid job at Wolves – before he parted company, over a disagreement over transfer policy.
There have been some left-field names mentioned to take over at Leeds, but Lambert would be a secure appointment.
And if he is desperate for a job, Leeds would have a chance of getting the deal done quickly, to ensure that plans can finally start taking place towards next campaign.
