Currently impressing at Blackburn, could Newcastle youngster Adam Armstrong be worth a punt for Leeds next season?

The striker issue remains a pertinent one at Leeds United, with none of their current options having truly stepped up and made the role their own this season.

Hamburger loanee Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Kemar Roofe have both shown scoring form in fits and starts, while youngster Jay-Roy Grot clearly needs more time to develop and the same could well be true of January addition from West Bromwich Albion, Tyler Roberts.

It could well mean that new manager Paul Heckingbottom will be looking to improve the position once the summer transfer window opens and maybe he should consider taking a chance on Newcastle United starlet Adam Armstrong.

This would certainly be a gamble, with Armstrong originally catching eyes during a prolific 2015/16 campaign on loan at Coventry City, scoring 20 goals in 40 games.

Yet the forward, who only turned 21 on February 10, has since struggled to recreate that form at Barnsley and more recently Bolton Wanderers; but now at Blackburn Rovers the signs are promising again.

Armstrong has netted three times in seven appearances for his new team, including a match-winning brace against Portsmouth in his latest League One outing and the attacker remains a highly regarded figure at St James’ Park.

With the ability to play as a central striker or on the wing, the Magpies academy product could also be a versatile option for Leeds and with Heckingbottom’s reputation of developing young talent, could this be the ideal match?
