Leeds are in the market for a midfielder so should they rival Stoke for Derby’s Tom Huddlestone; especially as they are also targeting Ryan Woods of Brentford?

Leeds United could be set to bring in at least one new midfielder on loan before the window closes, according to Leeds Live, following Rolando Vieira’s departure and injuries to Adam Forshaw and Stuart Dallas.

The Whites are unable to sign anyone permanently, but can still complete temporary deals up until deadline day on August 31.

So who is out there?

One experienced player who could well be available is Tom Huddlestone, with the Daily Mail claiming Stoke City are considering a move for the Derby County star.

Apparently Huddlestone does not fit into Rams manager Frank Lampard’s high energy style and therefore Stoke boss Gary Rowett is considering a reunion at the Bet365 Stadium.

Yet could the 31-year-old provide the defensive nous and technical ability in front of the back four for Leeds? Marcelo Bielsa does also prefer high intensity tactics, but Huddlestone could be the midfield foundation that allows others to flourish.

Of course the England international is likely to be more tempted by teaming up with former Derby chief Rowett at the Potters, but then they have also been linked with a move for Brentford’s Ryan Woods by the Telegraph.

If Woods were to arrive in Staffordshire then perhaps that would open the door for Bielsa to swoop in and sign a player with bags of experience at Championship and Premier League level.
