Sky Sports claim Championship side Reading are interested in signing Barnsley striker Tom Bradshaw this summer with the Tykes two points adrift of safety, but should Leeds rival the Royals and form a reunion with Paul Heckingbottom?
It is believed that a whole host of clubs are chasing three-time Wales international Bradshaw, who has scored 10 Championship goals this season in a side struggling to find the back of the net.
Indeed, 25-year-old Bradshaw has scored almost a quarter of Barnsley’s 45 Championship goals this season, as he continues to remain one of the Yorkshire-based side’s rare shining lights.
Heckingbottom, who took over at Leeds from Barnsley in February, knows Bradshaw very well after luring the Football League hitman to Oakwell from Walsall in the summer of 2016.
The Yorkshire Evening Post claimed last month that Leeds were working on a deal to land Pierre-Michel Lasogga on a permanent basis, but nothing has been heard since regarding the future of the £15,000-a-week striker.
The Whites, then, are likely to be in the market for a striker who knows how to find the back of the net in the Championship, and finally replace the loss of Chris Wood who joined Burnley last summer for £15million.
It should convince owner Andrea Radrizzani to open his cheque book for Bradshaw, who has just a year left non his contract and could be available on the cheap with Barnsley looking to avoid losing him on a free next summer.
Heckingbottom would be able to get the best out of Bradshaw after previously working with him, and the duo’s connection could see Leeds thrive when it comes to mounting a promotion charge next season.
