Leeds desperately need a goalkeeper and Celtic’s Scott Bain is available on a free.
If Paul Heckingbottom remains in charge at Leeds United beyond the end of the season, his first port of call in the summer transfer window will surely be solving the Whites’ problem area between the sticks.
Summer signing Felix Wiedwald has struggled in the Championship, being dropped for a second time this season after a string of poor performances. It has seen youngster Bailey Peacock-Farrell given a chance.
The 21-year-old has impressed for Leeds but a new goalkeeper will be at the top of Heckingbottom’s to-do list and he should be scouring the market already in order to create a shortlist ahead of the summer window.
The Scottish Sun claim Championship rivals Birmingham City and Bristol City are interested in Dundee goalkeeper Scott Bain, who is currently on loan with Scottish champions Celtic and is out of contract in the summer.
Signed by Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers in January until the end of the season with the intention of using the uncapped Scotsman as a back-up goalkeeper, Bain made his debut in Sunday’s Old Firm derby win over Rangers.
He starred in goal for the Hoops and it has seen both Birmingham and Bristol City become interested, while Scottish Premiership trio Celtic, Hearts and Hibernian are also keen in landing Bain on a permanent basis.
Known for his shot-stopping and decent distribution, the 26-year-old could be signed by Leeds on a pre-contract agreement with his Dundee contract set to expire at the end of the season.
Sunday’s performance alone should be enough convincing for Heckingbottom and Leeds to blow the interested parties out of the water and look to land the former Aberdeen stopper and solve their problem area ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.
