Graeme Shinnie is said to be interesting Championship side Bristol City.

Bristol City are reportedly interested in Aberdeen midfielder Graeme Shinnie ahead of the summer transfer window but surely he would be the perfect midfield addition at Leeds United?

The 26-year-old Aberdeen captain has been in excellent form this season, and now HITC Sport understands that Lee Johnson’s City are interested in a move to sign the tough-tackling star.

Making 45 league and cup appearances this season, Shinnine, scored four goals and provided seven assists but is much more renowned for his defensive work and keeping possession of the ball – something he does naturally.

His form this term has even seen him earn a place in the Scotland squad, called up to face Peru and Mexico on May 30 and June 3.

However, his long-term future at Pittodrie is in doubt, with only a year remaining on his current contract under Derek McInnes with the second-placed Scottish Premiership side.

It has now seen the Robins attracted to his presence, but Paul Heckingbottom should be alerted to his presence with his Leeds midfield lacking in any kind of bite or tenacity.

Graeme Shinnie of Aberdeen is seen during the William Hill Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Aberdeen at Hampden Park on May 27, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Eunan O’Kane has flopped with a number of flimsy performances seeing fans turn on the Ireland international, while Adam Forshaw has been injured since his move from Middlesbrough. A hard-working, fearsome midfielder is required.

Shinnie is just the kind of player capable of adding a bit of aggression into the middle of the park, with the dirty part of the game sometimes required – especially if Leeds want to gain promotion.
