Leeds United wanted Tomer Hemed in the summer, and perhaps they should make a fresh bid if Brighton and Hove Albion sign their target.

With four goals in their last five games and none in their last two, Leeds would surely be wise to look to strengthen their striker options during the January transfer window as they look to capitalise on their current position in the Championship.

There have been times when Pierre-Michel Lasogga, Kemar Roofe and Caleb Ekuban have all shone, but there has also been plenty of occasions when the trio have not looked like scoring, and that should concern Christiansen as their play-off rivals try to add to their squads.

The Whites have quality up front, but perhaps adding another goalscorer – who is proven in the Championship – may be a smart move, and thus, they should perhaps consider monitoring what happens in Brighton’s pursuit of Moussa Dembele.

The Daily Mail recently reported that the Seagulls are keen on the Celtic hitman, and if they manage to get a deal across the line, Leeds should try their luck and make a loan bid for summer target Tomer Hemed.

The Sun reported back in August that Leeds were amongst the second tier sides chasing Hemed, who, at the time, was set to be out of contract at the end of the season.

He has since signed a new deal at the Amex Stadium, but that should not put Leeds off making a loan bid if Dembele arrives as he is already having to bide his time with Glenn Murray currently Chris Hughton’s first choice.

Brighton do not have many options up front, so it would be an ambitious bid, but perhaps the Seagulls would like to give Hemed the chance to keep playing first-team football if he is unlikely to enjoy that with them.

And with Hemed scoring 28 goals across his two seasons in the Championship, Leeds may have the additional firepower that could prove absolutely vital as they look to ensure that their season does not tail off in the same way that it did last year when they were in a similar position.
