West Ham United want Birmingham City striker Che Adams, so perhaps Leeds United should reignite their interest in one of their recent targets if a deal takes place.
West Ham United’s Ashley Fletcher was a target for Leeds in January
During a quiet January transfer window for Leeds, one of the players that the Whites were continually linked with was West Ham’s Ashley Fletcher, with the Yorkshire Evening Post suggesting that a loan deal was being lined up by the Championship side.
The deal ultimately failed to materialise as the Hammers decided to keep Fletcher when they were unable to recruit another forward themselves.
But with a recent report from the Daily Mirror suggesting that the Irons are targeting a forward from one of Leeds’ Championship rivals, perhaps that door may be open for Garry Monk’s men to make another move for Fletcher in the coming months.
According to the Mirror, West Ham want Birmingham City’s Che Adams following his seven-goal campaign with the Blues, and it could certainly be argued that by signing him, Fletcher’s position in the pecking order would be up for debate.

Like Fletcher did last year, Adams would surely arrive at the London Stadium as a ‘one for the future’ signing, so the fact that the club are targeting the 20-year-old in the first place when they have already Fletcher in their ranks would perhaps hint that the former Manchester United trainee may not feature so heavily in their plans moving forward.
With Leeds undoubtedly needing more fire-power – Marcus Antonsson has struggled to provide Chris Wood with adequate cover in the current system that Monk has favoured – they should surely target trying to bring Fletcher to Elland Road in some capacity in the hope that he can show the kind of form that convinced the Hammers to sign him in the first place.
If his current club manage to land their own striker target, then it would surely not be out of the question to suggest that Leeds could secure a good deal if they targeted Fletcher once again.
