Leeds United striker Marcus Antonsson has enjoyed a very good loan spell with Blackburn Rovers.

Marcus Antonsson may not have enjoyed the best first year at Leeds last season, but there is no question that there are a number of supporters who would like to see the striker recalled from his loan spell at Blackburn Rovers this month and given another chance once he is back fully fit.
Antonsson has scored seven times in League One this term, while all of Thomas Christiansen’s strikers have enjoyed high and low points this season and the Whites have gone two games without a goal in the Championship.

But with Leeds inconsistent in front of goal and the Chronicle reporting that the Ewood Park outfit are looking to sign Adam Armstrong on loan from Newcastle United this month, surely the Whites would be wise to reconsider their stance and think about bringing the 2016 signing back in.
Antonsson is already struggling to get opportunities in a central striker role at Blackburn despite being their top goalscorer, and Armstrong’s arrival would surely leave him even less likely to get a chance leading the line – especially with the Chronicle reporting that the Magpies forward has been left frustrated with his lack of chances through the middle on loan at Bolton.

If Leeds are planning to enjoy a quiet transfer window, bringing Antonsson back may be an extremely wise move as it may seem as if they are almost signing a striker, who will have his confidence back and will not have cost a fee.
And if the additional rivalry helps the likes of Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Kemar Roofe step their games up in the coming months – though the latter has been impressive during his recent run up front – then surely it could be a brilliant move, especially if Antonsson is determined to prove to anyone who has written him off that he has a lot more to give at Elland Road.
