Leeds face Championship leaders Wolves on Wednesday night.
Leeds United manager Paul Heckingbottom needs to shake up his starting eleven ahead of Wednesday night’s clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers, following a dismal defeat to Middlesbrough on Friday.
A number of senior players failed to meet the required standard, including goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald, midfielder Eunan O’Kane and attacker Ezgjan Alioski – the latter being hauled off the field at half-time.
It should see the former Barnsley boss make a number of changes to his side ahead of what is another difficult Championship encounter against Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves, who remain at the top of the table.
Leeds’ defence were simply bamboozled by Boro last time out and a change at the back is a necessity in order to stop Wolves’ flying attackers, including Helder Costa, Leo Bonatini and Ivan Cavaleiro.
Holland international Vurnon Anita, 28, was another player who struggled to cope with Boro’s attacking prowess, as Adama Traore thrived against the former Newcastle United defender.
Heckingbottom should drop the summer signing, and instead include £1.5million signing Laurens De Bock at left-back in his starting eleven in a move that would see Gaetano Berardi move to right-back.
Belgian defender De Bock was dropped by Heckingbottom following the 2-2 draw against Derby County, with the former Champions League left footed at fault for Andreas Weimann’s goal.
But he offers more going forward and in the air against Anita, who struggled to cope with the pace and physicality of Boro’s attack last time out.
Starting De Bock would be a good move for the Whites, as they look to end a dismal run of just one win in 12 league and cup encounters with an unlikely victory against Wolves.
