Leeds are in desperate need of a goalkeeper this summer.
Leeds United’s next manager is set for a busy transfer window this summer and whoever owner Andrea Radrizzani appoints must bring a new goalkeeper to Elland Road.
The Whites failed to deliver on pre-season expectations of a top six finish in the Championship, ending the campaign in a disappointing 13th place in England’s second tier.
That is despite director of football Victor Orta splashing Radrizzani’s cash on a whole host of stars, including goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald from German Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen.
Wiedwald failed to live up to the hype when he first signed, since being ostracised by former boss Paul Heckingbottom and Bailey Peacock-Farrell becoming first choice.
But if Leeds are to mount a promotion charge next season, they need a goalkeeper who is experienced and can organise the Whites defence well enough to keep their Championship opponents at bay.
It should see Leeds’ next manager consider a move for Tottenham Hotspur stopper Paulo Gazzaniga, after Michel Vorm was surprisingly handed another 12 months at Spurs.
It leaves Argentinian stopper Gazzaniga on the Spurs sidelines for another season as the club’s third-choice stopper, and Leeds should offer the former Southampton star an escape route.
The 26-year-old managed just one appearance throughout the whole of 2017-18, with Vorm and Hugo Lloris ahead of him in the pecking order under Mauricio Pochettino.
Leeds should look to sign the former Rayo Vallecano stopper this summer, in a move that would surely suit Gazzaniga and Spurs and simultaneously end the Whites hunt for a new goalkeeper.
