John Ruddy could be set for an exit from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer despite playing every Championship match this season and being named in the team of the year.
Ruddy joined Wolves on a free transfer from Norwich City in 2017 and helped the club win the title and promotion back to the Premier League.
Yet despite the 31-year-old’s influence, the Express reports the West Midlands side are lining up a £35m deal for goalkeeper Jack Butland if Stoke City are, as expected, relegated this term.
Where next for Ruddy?
It seems harsh on the England international that he could be dumped after keeping 24 clean-sheets in the league in 2017/18, but apparently there are concerns whether the stopper can still cut it in the top flight.
Which is perhaps why Leeds United should be watching developments closely, with Leeds Live reporting that improvement between the sticks is a priority for manager Paul Heckingbottom ahead of the next campaign.
Ruddy has bags of experience in the second tier of English football, winning promotion from the division on three separate occasions having also done it twice with previous team Norwich City.
