Leeds United should consider a move for Stephane Sparagna, who knows Marcelo Bielsa well.

Leeds United have been rocked by Liam Cooper’s ‘serious’ injury.

The Whites’ centre-back lasted 21 minutes of Saturday’s 1-0 win at Sheffield United, before coming off injured and being replaced by Aapo Halme.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa said afterwards that it looked a ‘serious one’ and if the Elland Road club needed to sign a centre-back in January before Cooper’s injury, they definitely do now.

And one man who United should look at is Stephane Sparagna.

The Boa Vista defender is out of the picture in Portugal, having not played since September and it just so happens that Bielsa knows him.

The 23-year-old played under Bielsa at Marseille and if past comments are anything to go by, he clearly has a lot of affection for the Argentine.

Sparagna told Sports.fr in September of 2017 that nobody in French football believed in him ‘except Marcelo Bielsa

He is valued at around £1.1 million [Transfermarkt], isn’t playing in Portugal and he has a fondness for the 63-year-old, so surely Leeds should at least consider him.

Getting deals done in January is notoriously difficult, but Sparagna seems doable.
