With 13 goals in 16 games this season, Leon Clarke could be the man Leeds United need to relaunch their play-off push.
Sheffield United striker Leon Clarke is in the form of his life at the moment, with 13 goals in 16 Championship games this season, nine of which have come in the month of November.
The 32-year-old is currently the Championship top scorer and is just three goals shy of breaking his personal record goal tally for a season.
Few identified the former Bury striker as even Sheffield United’s first choice striker at the start of the season, let alone the potential Championship top scorer, but Clarke has proven his critics wrong and is proving to be a handful week in week out.
Leeds are a side in desperate need of a goalscoring striker, with Pierre-Michel Lasogga struggling for goals after a blistering start to life at the club and summer signings Jay-Roy Grot, Caleb Ekuban and Pawel Cibicki all yet to open their accounts at Elland Road.
Thomas Christiansen needs to bring in another new striker in January to relieve the attacking workload on Samuel Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski and Clarke could be the perfect option.
A physical presence up top and an excellent aerial threat, in his current form, Clarke would be a big upgrade on Lasogga.
However, at 32 years of age, Clarke isn’t a long-term fix and with Sheffield United in a promotion battle at the top end of the table, they’ll be extremely reluctant to let their talisman go. Saying that, with Radrizzani at the helm, Leeds have the financial resources to launch a sufficient bid.
