Leeds United are reportedly eyeing a move for £10 million-rated Matej Vydra as the Whites look to recruit a new striker.

Leeds fans would be forgiven for feeling extremely excited about the summer amid reports from the Yorkshire Evening Post which suggested that the Whites were eyeing a move for Matej Vydra and were confident in regards to a deal for the £10 million-rated forward.
Their reported confidence should leave the Elland Road faithful optimistic as it certainly hints that Andrea Radrizzani is ready to potentially spend the kind of sums that have rarely been seen at the Yorkshire side since they were playing in the Champions League around the turn of the Millennium.

It is a gamble to spend that kind of money on Vydra however, when you consider that his goal tally has reached double figures in a single season just three times in his career. He did finish as the Championship’s top goalscorer this past season, but there should be other marquee targets considered if Leeds are willing to pay eight figures to land a striker.
One year on and Gayle is, according to the Daily Mail, available for £10 million this summer – the same price that Derby reportedly want for Vydra.

Gayle is another player who boasts a very good record in the second tier, and the Whites should consider the 28-year-old as a potential alternative to Vydra if the Rams’ asking price is significantly higher than what they currently expect it to be.
The Magpies ace’s record makes a potential pursuit just as much of a gamble as signing Vydra would be, but if Leeds are willing to spend around £10 million on a new goalscorer, perhaps the reports on Gayle’s apparent asking price should tempt them to also include the Premier League forward on their wishlist.
