Could Leeds United boss Paul Heckingbottom turn to Pawel Cibicki this week?
Leeds United duo Samu Saiz and Stuart Dallas could both miss the visit of Bolton Wanderers this Friday.
Saiz picked up a hamstring injury in the draw at Reading a fortnight ago, while Dallas was sent home from international duty with Northern Ireland due to a thigh strain.
It isn’t great news for Leeds boss Paul Heckingbottom but could the 40-year-old turn to Pawel Cibicki?
The Swedish winger is yet to play for the Whites since Heckingbottom replaced Thomas Christiansen in February and hasn’t even been named on the bench since the 1-0 win over Brentford a month ago.
But circumstance means that the former Barnsley boss might turn to the 24-year-old this week and, let’s face it, United have very little to lose if he does.
Heckingbottom’s side are 17 points clear of relegation but 12 adrift of the top six. Leeds, who sit 14th in the Championship, have very little to play for, but Heckingbottom could use the remaining eight games to gauge who could potentially have a role to play next term and Cibicki might well be one of them.
It seems a long time ago now but the former Malmo star – who can play on the wing and at number 10 – did look like a very promising addition back in November and December after finally breaking into the side and it’ll be interesting to see if an overdue chance in the first XI leads to him recovering that form.
