Freddie Woodman is reportedly wanted on loan by Championship clubs so should Leeds United consider the Newcastle United goalkeeper?
Hearts are the latest club to show interest in Newcastle United’s Freddie Woodman, according to the Daily Record, with the goalkeeper having a number of admirers.
Despite being regarded as a top prospect for the future, Woodman is well down the pecking order at St James’ Park with Martin Dubravka, Rob Elliot and Karl Darlow all ahead of the youngster for a starting place between the posts.
That is why the Magpies are willing to allow the 21-year-old to leave on loan again next season, with Aberdeen and Hibernian also keeping tabs along with a number of Championship and League One clubs in England.
Should Leeds be among them?
Leeds United appear to be in the market for a new stopper this summer having most recently been linked with a loan move for Manchester United’s Dean Henderson by the Daily Mail.
That is because, as Birmingham Live outlines, both Andy Lonergan and Felix Wiedwald face uncertain futures with the Whites after failing to impress during the 2017/18 campaign.
As a result of their struggles academy product Bailey Peacock-Farrell became the unexpected first choice towards the end of last term.
Yet competition will be needed for Peacock-Farrell and perhaps Woodman could be the ‘keeper the fill that role after impressing on loan in Scottish football in recent times.
