Leeds are closing in on their second signing of the January transfer window.

Samu Saiz’s ban will have hit everyone connected with Leeds United hard. The Spaniard has been the Whites’ best player this season, without a shadow of a doubt, despite only joining the club in the summer.
The £3million signing from Huesca has scored nine goals and added five assists, as he gives Leeds a real attacking tenacity that the Yorkshire club have sorely missed in recent years.
The 26-year-old’s driving runs from deep, skill, and close control are all traits that bode well for Saiz, but another characteristic – aggression – simply does not. Now banned for six matches after spitting at Newport County’s Robbie Willmott, Leeds must replace his loss.

The playmaker will be out until February 20, and that should convince Christiansen to bring in a new attacking midfielder with similar flair, speed and the ability to unlock a defence – as Saiz so often does.
It should convince Thomas Christiansen to look at a former Garry Monk speed machine, in Swansea outcast Jefferson Montero who is currently on loan with La Liga side Getafe.
However, the 28-year-old has been afforded just four substitute appearances, totalling 54 minutes. Swansea should look to cancel his loan, especially if Leeds become interested.

Boasting huge pace, the 63-time Ecuador international is renowned for creating chances from scratch by drifting past opponents and getting to the byline to cross. He is the kind of player that Pierre-Michel Lasogga will thrive off of.
Although more of a winger than Saiz, Montero’s addition to the Leeds side would see him move out wide and push Pablo Hernandez into his more preferred position directly behind the striker.
Leeds must look to convince Swansea that the Welsh club should cancel Montero’s loan in Spain, and give him the chance to resurrect his career in Yorkshire by teaming up with Hernandez again and shining in Saiz’s absence.
