Rangers have already agreed new deals for Aidan Wilson and Jamie Barjonas.
Graeme Murty is taking full advantage of his temporary role as manager of Rangers by handing out contracts to some of the Gers young guns in Jamie Barjonas and Aidan Wilson.
Wilson, 18, put pen to paper on a two-year extension last week before midfielder Barjonas did the same on Monday, sealing his future at Ibrox until the summer of 2020.
Now, interim boss Murty must turn his attention towards handing versatile midfielder Jordan Thompson a new contract, less than a year after earning his previous deal.
The eight-time Northern Ireland Under-19 international has just six months remaining on his current deal at Ibrox, with his future likely to be in doubt with the January transfer window approaching.
At just 18 years of age, Thompson has already clocked up three senior appearances for the Gers and can play anywhere in midfield – in the middle of the park or on either flank.
A former Manchester United trainee, Thompson is another example of Rangers’ impressive crop of youth. His talent and potential should not be wasted by the Gers, which would see him become the third youngster to sign a new deal in a week.
But Murty must make a decision quickly, with his future even less certain and Rangers’ new manager unlikely to place as much attention in the club’s youth as he has in his short spell.
