Glasgow Rangers midfielder Jordan Rossiter looks to be edging towards full fitness, so could a return to the Ibrox first-team soon be on the cards?

It is surely a sign of how highly Jordan Rossiter is thought of at Ibrox, that Rangers appear to be doing all they can to help the young midfielder realise his full potential despite a number of injury setbacks since his arrival from Liverpool.

Signed for just £250,000 in 2016, according to the Daily Record, it would have been very easy for the Gers to consider moving him on in the most recent January transfer window, especially with the Daily Record reporting that Wigan Athletic were considering making a move, given that he has not played for the first-team since August.

However, they have kept him at Ibrox. And the 20-year-old is providing the slightest hint that he is ready to repay their faith after captaining the development side and playing 60 minutes as the Light Blues beat Valencia this week.

The Scottish Premiership clash with Partick Thistle on Tuesday will come too soon for the youngster, but there is surely an ideal opportunity to get him back into the first-team fold emerging on the horizon.

Rangers imanager Graeme Murty is seen during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Aberdeen at Ibrox Stadium on January 24, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers travel to face League One side Ayr in the next round of the Scottish Cup this weekend. And while it would be a big ask to expect Rossiter to play a major part in the game, it may not be a bad idea for Graeme Murty to put him in the squad.

And if he can get some minutes under his belt and come through the appearance unscathed, that would do his confidence the world of good, and potentially provide the fans with a glimpse of why Rangers have kept faith in the extremely talented midfielder for so long.
