Speaking on ESPN, Shaka Hislop has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur should have sold Harry Kane at the beginning of the summer window.
Kane made it very clear before the transfer window even opened that he was after a move away from north London, but for one reason or another, the saga dragged on and on, and in the end, he didn’t get his move.
Daniel Levy was incredibly stubborn, but Hislop believes that Tottenham should have taken the money when they had the chance.

Hislop was speaking about Kane’s form, claiming that the north London outfit would have been better off selling him.
“I totally agree, and given what we’ve seen in recent weeks, Spurs should have taken the money, not on August 29th or 30th, trying to get every last penny out of it, they should have done it earlier in the summer and strengthened,” Hislop said.
Unsettled player
As strange as this may be to say, Hislop may be right.
Yes, selling your best player is never a good idea on paper, but you’re better off having a happy and balanced squad rather than a team heavily reliant on a player who is clearly unsettled.
Kane is undoubtedly a fantastic footballer. Frank Lampard called him ‘brilliant’ just last week, but this season he’s not looked himself.
So many pundits have noted that the striker looks unhappy at the moment. His body language tells the story, while his numbers this term show that he’s simply not at his best.
Tottenham easily could have had £100m extra in the bank this summer, and even though transfer fees are extortionate these days, that’s still enough to strengthen.
Daniel Levy may have been better off selling Kane and overhauling their entire squad.
