Speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, Paul Dickov has been chatting about Joe Gelhardt and Leeds United.
Gelhardt has been the breakout star at Leeds this season and he bailed the Whites out on Saturday with a very late winner against Norwich City in a relegation six-pointer.
Gelhardt has been absolutely fantastic all season long, but despite his brilliance, he’s only started two Premier League games.
Dickov claims that the striker should have had more of a run in the team.
What’s been said?
Dickov spoke about Gelhardt.
“Elland Road was absolutely jumping as well and bringing everything together with the fans on the pitch as well has given them a massive chance of staying up. I’m delighted for young Gelhardt as well because he’s an outstanding young talent whenever he’s been called upon. Probably not enough in my eyes, I know Bamford has been out so he should have gotten a run in the team beforehand because he’s a real talent,” Dickov said.

Deserved more chances
Dickov is absolutely right, Gelhardt has deserved more chances at Leeds.
Time after time, Tyler Roberts was picked to come off of the bench over Gelhardt by Marcelo Bielsa and every single time it was a frustrating substitution.
Gelhardt looks like one of the brightest young talents in the league, but he’s barely played any football this term.
We can understand the need to slowly bed him into the side, but when he’s producing in the way he has this season, he should be getting more of a chance.
