Gabby Agbonlahor expressed his anger on Instagram at Aston Villa failing to sign Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser, who ended up at Newcastle.

The former Villa striker reacted to Sky Sports’ Instagram post when they confirmed that Fraser had joined Wilson at St James’ Park.

Agbonlahor simply commented underneath: ‘Villa should have got him and Wilson’, with the caption accompanied by a number of angry emojis.

Whilst Villa weren’t seemingly in the hunt for Fraser’s signature, they did want to sign Wilson and he shared that it was ’50-50′ in him moving to the Midlands [Read Here] before he decided on a switch to the North East.

It has to be questioned how much of a factor Fraser had on Wilson moving to Newcastle, and vice versa, because they have linked up with their former Bournemouth teammate Matt Ritchie.

Wilson would have been an ideal signing for Dean Smith because of his experience, goal-scoring abilities and the fact that he would have pushed ahead of all the forward players currently at the club.

As for Fraser, even though he was a free-transfer, he would divide opinion because of the poor performances he produced last season and the fact that he opted against playing for Bournemouth after the restart.

It’s still a no-risk signing because there isn’t any transfer fee attached to his signature, but it will now be interesting to see how the duo perform compared to Smith’s players this season.
