Some Leeds United fans on social media have been reacting after The Athletic reported that Barcelona showed a late interest in bringing Rodrigo to Camp Nou on loan this summer.
Towards the end of the transfer window, Barcelona were scrambling for an attacker. Antoine Griezmann was on his way out and given La Blaugrana’s financial issues, they couldn’t go out and sign a superstar.
The La Liga giants asked Leeds about bringing Rodrigo in on loan, but they eventually settled on signing Luuk De Jong from Sevilla.
Imagine telling a Leeds fan a few years ago that Barcelona wanted to loan a player from Elland Road, it would have sounded insane, but given Leeds’ rise to the Premier League and Barcelona’s recent decline, we’ve gotten to the point where Barca are looking at Marcelo Bielsa’s players.
As you can imagine, Whites supporters had plenty to say about this rumour.
Some fans believed it was an indictment of how far Barcelona have fallen, while others wished that they’d allowed Rodrigo to join the Catalan outfit.
