The new Birmingham boss would do well to steal Samba away from Villa.

Birmingham City have moved to bring in Harry Redknapp as the man who can save the club from relegation this season. The Blues had an outside chance of making the play-offs under Gary Rowett. However, he was inexplicably sacked and replaced by Gianfranco Zola – a move which has had a devastating impact on the club’s recent form.
Redknapp will struggle to improve the side at all for their final three games of the Championship campaign, but a swoop for a current Aston Villa trialist could be a shrewd move.
Chris Samba has been on trial at their local rivals for over a month now. Steve Bruce has a long-term plan with the Gambian defender. However, Redknapp knows him well and could surely tempt him with a move to St Andrew’s.
Redknapp tried to sign him from Blackburn Rovers whilst Tottenham Hotspur boss and eventually did get his man when manager at QPR.

Birmingham’s leaky defence could certainly benefit from the impact of Samba’s arrival, with the club currently winless in their last nine games.
On top of that, stealing away a trialist from their local rivals, ahead of the Birmingham derby this weekend, would be a major coup for the struggling club.
