With Ezgjan Alioski, Stuart Dallas and Kemar Roofe out of form, should Hadi Sacko start this weekend?

Leeds United head into Saturday’s visit to Brentford desperate to halt the slide that has seen them lose five of their last six league games, slipping out of the top six and into 7th place on Wednesday night following Aston Villa’s 2-0 away win at Preston.

Thomas Christiansen’s side look a shadow of the team that put five past Burton earlier in the season and fans are beginning to call for the Dane’s head in order to avoid a repeat of last season’s disappointment.

Part of the frustration has been surrounding the winger situation at the club, with Ezgjan Alioski, Stuart Dallas, Kemar Roofe and Hadi Sacko all vying for two slots either side of Spanish playmaker Samu Saiz.

The latter of the quartet could potentially be the surprise spark Leeds need to get back to winning ways.

Alioski and Roofe were both hauled off against Derby after fairly ineffectual performances, so now could be the time for the 23-year-old to step up.

After an impressive loan spell with The Whites last term, Sacko was signed permanently in the summer, but has played just 88 minutes in the league after finding himself out of favour with boss Christiansen.

However, if deployed on the right wing against Brentford, his pace and direct style of play could cause makeshift full-back Josh Clarke all sorts of problems, unlocking a defence that has been shored up by Dean Smith in recent weeks.

Starting Sacko would certainly be a risk, given the former Sporting Lisbon winger’s modest goal record and lack of game time this season, but with Alioski, Roofe and Dallas all out-of-form, this is the perfect chance for the winger to stake a claim for a starting berth.
