Jon Flanagan and Andy Halliday are not natural left-backs and Scottish Premiership giants Rangers are missing Borna Barisic.

With Borna Barisic seemingly not yet fit to start after over two months out with injury and Jon Flanagan once again struggling in the Europa League clash with Villarreal, could Rangers manager Steven Gerrard be forced to consider the unthinkable – recall Lee Wallace?
Since being suspended by The Gers after a row with interim coach Graeme Murty after last season’s Scottish Cup semi-final thrashing at Celtic in April, Wallace has played just a handful of minutes for the first-team.
And, speaking at the club’s Annual General Meeting, Gerrard didn’t give much away about Wallace’s ongoing omission.
“Lee Wallace was out injured when I came in and had missed 12 months before then,” he said, as reported by STV. “I pay tribute to how Lee has gone about his business when he has been injured.”

But with Croatian international Barisic still not ready to return, former Liverpool defender Flanagan once again looked a little exposed at left-back in the goalless draw with Villarreal at Ibrox. On top of that, fans still haven’t forgotten about his horror show in the 4-3 defeat at Spartak Moscow.
And while Andy Halliday hasn’t disgraced himself when asked to play out of position at left-back either, perhaps it is time that Gerrard turned to Wallace for the first time since taking over at the Glasgow giants.
The former club captain is at least a natural in the position – which is more than can be said for Flanagan and Halliday.
