Inter Milan playmaker Marcelo Brozovic has remained a long-term target for Everton after the Toffees were once again linked with a move for the Croatian midfielder in January, but now they may have a trump card in their bid to sign him.

Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb have claimed that Inter are interested in Everton 25-year-old Davy Klaassen, who has played just six minutes of senior football in 2018 under Sam Allardyce.

The £25million summer signing has failed to replicate the kind of form that saw him star as Ajax captain in 2016-17 and push the Dutch giants into the Europa League final, where they lost to Manchester United.

With Inter interested in the Holland international, Everton could look to use Klaassen as a makeweight in a deal to sign Brozovic as the Toffees continue to be linked with a move for the former Dinamo Zagreb star.

Better yet, TuttoMercatoWeb claimed back in February that Inter were looking to sell Brozovic, with his price tag set at £17million. Including Klaassen in such a deal could see the two sides come to an agreement in a straight swap deal.

The only stumbling block for Everton is that they may face competition from Premier League rivals Arsenal in the hunt for Brozovic, as Football Italia reported in January that both English clubs were interested.

But with Inter reportedly monitoring Klaassen, Allardyce may have one up on Arsene Wenger this summer if both clubs look to reignite their interest in the Inter Milan ace.

Swapping Klaassen for Brozovic is a move that would suit all parties.
