Gary Cahill has admitted his frustration at being dropped for key Chelsea games so if he leaves, should Everton take a closer look?

Chelsea captain Gary Cahill has grown tired of having to prove himself after being dropped by manager Antonio Conte for several key matches this season.
Cahill did not play in either of the Champions League last-16 legs with Barcelona or Carabao Cup semi-final legs against Arsenal and was also absent for recent Premier League clashes with Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

“I realise the manager has decisions to make. I realise I’m not getting any younger,” the 32-year-old told the Guardian.
“I don’t feel like I need to prove anything. I’ve proven it before, time and time again. It gets tiring after a bit, if I’m honest.
“Maybe that’s just football, maybe that’s just the way my past has gone, I don’t know.”
Cahill is about to enter the final year of his current contract at Stamford Bridge and the Telegraph reported earlier this month that the defender was one of several senior players whose future at the club remained uncertain.

What next?
If the England international were to leave the Blues six-and-a-half years after joining from Bolton Wanderers then perhaps Everton should take a closer look.
As the Daily Mail reports, the Toffees are in the market for a new centre-back with Ashley Williams having failed to impress this term and skipper Phil Jagielka approaching his 36th birthday.
While Cahill is no youngster himself – he will be 33 in December – the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup winner does have a wealth of experience and could be just what the likes of Michael Keane and Mason Holgate need to improve their game.
