The Leicester City striker would be a useful addition to the Everton squad.

Toffees boss Ronald Koeman has already spent well in excess of £100 million this summer, in an effort to revamp his ageing squad at Goodison Park.

Everton fans are surely happy with the business completed by the Dutchman already, but there is arguably the need for the signing of one more striker, with Romelu Lukaku still expected to leave the Merseyside club this summer.

With this in mind, the Blues should consider revisiting their interest in Algerian hitman Islam Slimani, who they were closely monitoring way back in January 2016, according to the Daily Mail.

The 29-year-old joined the Foxes from Sporting Lisbon last summer, for a fee believed to be in the region of £28 million, but struggled to settle at the King Power Stadium, scoring just eight goals in 29 appearances for Leicester.

It could be argued that he wasn’t given the opportunity of enough regular game-time, however, with only 16 starts to his name.

Standing at 6ft 2in, Slimani is powerfully built, and possesses superb aerial prowess, something that would provide Koeman with the option to go more direct, should the need for a plan B arise.

Following Everton’s purchase of the smaller, more nimble Sandro Ramirez, the acquisition of someone with the Algeria international’s frame is just what the Toffees need, and the pair could develop a fearsome partnership, if Lukaku leaves Goodison of course.

Slimani is under contract at the King Power Stadium for another four years, however, so he will not come cheap, but if the Merseyside outfit’s recent expenditure is anything to go by, tempting the Foxes into selling should not be a problem at all.

And if Koeman manages to seal a deal for the 29-year-old, he could then have a complete squad at his disposal, as he attempts go guide his Everton side to a successful 2017/18 campaign on all fronts.
