With this in mind, Everton should consider rekindling their interest in Southampton hitman Manolo Gabbiadini, with his future at St Mary’s growing increasingly more uncertain, according to Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato.
The 26-year-old joined the Saints from Napoli in January 2017, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £14 million, according to BBC Sport.
Everton wanted to sign the Italian in the summer of 2016, according to the Mirror, but a move obviously failed to materialise.
Gabbiadini’s game is based around his ability to finish, and his 11 goals in 45 appearances for the Saints do not do his ability justice.
The former Napoli man is a clinical finisher, and does most of his work in and around the penalty area – a particular quality in a striker that Everton have lacked in recent years.
The report from Calcio Mercato claims that Southampton could be willing to sell the Italian, if they receive an offer somewhere in the region of what they paid for him 18 months ago.
That would represent decent value for Everton, and Gabbiadini could turn out to be a signing of real significance for them.
