Everton continue to struggle but could a simple change help their fortunes?

Everton’s defeat to Southampton was yet another awful moment in a season full of them and the Toffees’ board needs to appoint a new permanent manager sooner rather than later.
In the mean time, caretaker boss David Unsworth has to do his best to stop a rot that has only got worse in recent weeks, and one possible change could be to give Jonjoe Kenny more freedom down the right.

The 20-year-old has been a regular at right-back since Ronald Koeman left Goodison Park, and his attacking intent and crossing ability is clear to see. However, if Everton want to get the best out of him in that regard, it would be worth considering playing Kenny on the right wing with Mason Holgate coming in as full-back.
That could add more energy to Everton and potentially give their forwards more opportunities with regular crosses coming into the box.

Everton would still need a forward who can put the finishing touches on those moves but providing more opportunities should in itself help whoever is tasked with leading the line in the busy month ahead.
Kenny is a quality player who has been one of Everton’s only bright sparks in a terrible campaign, and pairing him with Holgate could give the Toffees an additional spark just when they need it the most.
