Everton have been linked with the German number 10 and now is the time to strike.
After spending £47 million on Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott this month, you can’t accuse Everton of not trying to solve their goalscoring problems.
The Toffees have only managed nine Premier League goals in the 10 games that Sam Allardyce has taken charge of and the question now is how does Allardyce maximise their goalscoring potential?
They already have the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson available for creativity, but Everton have been linked with another number 10 and now they simply must push ahead with signing him.
The Goodison Park side hadn’t signed Tosun or Walcott by that stage but with both now signed up, it makes sense for the Merseysiders to turn their attention to the 24-year-old.
The German has a very impressive 21 assists in 78 Bundesliga games from a number 10 position and he could be a brilliant alternative source of creativity for the likes of Tosun and Walcott to feed off.
Tosun is a goal machine if his record for Besiktas and Turkey is anything to go by and though Walcott arrived as a winger, the former Arsenal man is a much more accomplished goalscorer than your average wide man and will make the type of runs that playmakers love.
His star is rising, based on the fact he is also linked with Arsenal, but Everton should use the next 10 days to try and fashion a deal because he is only going to get better.
