Everton should look to challenge Rubin Kazan for West Bromwich Albion’s Salomon Rondon this summer.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman
Toffees boss Ronald Koeman faces a vitally important couple months ahead of him, as he looks to shape his squad into one that is capable of mounting a sustained challenge for Champions League football next term.
Everton are finally in a position where they can compete financially with some of Europe’s biggest clubs, following the investment of Farhad Moshiri, and they will be looking to make some waves during this summer’s transfer window.
One particular area of the Dutchman’s squad that needs addressing is the forward department, with Romelu Lukaku’s future far from certain, and the addition of a proven striker will surely feature highly on his wish-list.
With this in mind, the Blues should consider muscling in on Rubin Kazan’s reported interest in Baggies striker Salomon Rondon.
Salomon Rondon
Russian media outlet Sport Express claim that Rubin are attempting to re-sign the striker who they sold to Zenit St Petersburg back in 2014.
The 27-year-old Venezuelan would be perfect for Everton, and he has proven by his displays for West Brom that he is more than capable of leading the line on his own.
His tireless running into the channels, and willingness to close down the opposition defence will surely appeal to Koeman, who likes his team to press with aggression from the front.
West Bromwich Albion’s Salomon Rondon
Rondon is not the most prolific of strikers, but the manner in which he brings others into the game could be key for Everton, and would surely help them improve their goalscoring output.
Rondon is clearly capable of playing the lone role up front, but he could be equally, if not more, effective when playing as part of a two, and if Lukaku does stay at Goodison, the pair could strike up one of the more formidable partnerships in the Premier League.
One potential stumbling block in signing the Venezuela international would be West Brom’s reluctance to sell to another Premier League club, and with his contract at the Hawthorns not set to expire until the summer of 2019, it could take an extortionate offer to prise him away from the Baggies.
