Should Everton join Moyes in race for Brighton’s Lewis Dunk?

Everton should join West Ham United in the race to sign Brighton and Hove Albion defender Lewis Dunk.

According to a recent report from the Daily Mirror, West Ham boss David Moyes wants to make Lewis Dunk his first signing following his arrival at the London Stadium.

The Hammers’ defence has been extremely disappointing this term, so it is no surprise that Moyes is looking to use the January transfer window to try and make a change, and Dunk has undoubtedly been impressive with newly-promoted Brighton.

Another team whose defence has failed to capture the imagination this season is Moyes’ old side Everton, with the Toffees’ defensive record proving very similar to the one the Hammers currently boast.

So perhaps Everton should consider joining Moyes in the race to sign Dunk as he may be a brilliant option during the winter window.

Like West Ham, Everton’s centre-back options could arguably do with being bolstered by some younger players, with Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka both well into their 30s.

Dunk, 25, has adapted well to every challenge put in front of him, having played in the top three tiers with the Seagulls, and there seems no reason why he would not be able to make the step up to Goodison Park, if the Toffees decided to rival Moyes and make a move of their own, and help add to the spine that the club have tried to build in recent months.
