Everton need goalscoring wingers and West Ham’s Marko Arnautovic needs a fresh start – now may be the time for a move.

Marko Arnautovic’s club-record £25 million move to West Ham in the summer (The Mirror) always looked like going one of two ways.

And, unfortunately for Hammers fans, they have seen more of the enigmatic ‘bad-boy’ Jose Mourinho famously described as ‘unmanageable’ at Inter Milan rather than the goalscoring winger who starred at Stoke City.

Arnautovic has had more red cards than goals in West Ham colours, picking up the stupidest three-game ban for a needless elbow on Southampton’s Jack Stephens back in August.

And The Mirror is now reporting that new West Ham boss David Moyes might even look to sell the Austrian as early as January. Arnautovic is understood to be under threat at the London Stadium after failing to impress the West Ham hierarchy.

It remains to be seen, however, whether any club would take a chance on a player who has failed to score or assist a goal since costing his current club a huge transfer fee.

Perfect time?

Though if Everton can overlook the 28-year-old’s multitude of flaws, it may be the perfect time for The Toffees to give Arnautovic a second thought.

The former Werder Bremen man is not exactly a crowd favourite at Goodison Park after he told The Sun in April that he turned down The Toffees despite receiving personal phone calls from former manager Ronald Koeman. This, it must be added, was more an act of respect towards a Stoke side that had kickstarted his hitherto stalling career.

These days, Everton are crying out for a little pace and goalscoring threat out wide – particularly with Kevin Mirallas’ heart still set on a move away from Merseyside in January.

Arnautovic at his best is one of the Premier League’s most potent wingers, scoring and assisting 28 goals for Stoke in his final two seasons. The winger turned down Everton before but now appears the perfect time for player and club to work together.
