Everton’s fortunes have improved considerably since the appointment of Sam Allardyce as manager, with the club now in the top half of the Premier League table.
The Toffees signed a host of players in the summer transfer window, and, while some of those players, most notably Gylfi Sigurdsson, have enjoyed a new lease of life under Allardyce, others have continued to struggle.
Davy Klaassen certainly falls into the latter category, with the midfielder having barely featured in recent weeks, save for his involvement in Everton’s Europa League campaign.
Signed from Ajax in the summer amidst much expectation, Klaassen is impressive technically and is a neat passer, yet he has struggled to adapt to the Premier League.
Although he is talented, it is difficult to envisage Klaassen playing a major part under Allardyce, especially when the new manager has been able to get his side performing so effectively as a unit.
Everton paid £23.6 million to sign Klaassen in the summer, as reported by Sky Sports, and they should look to recoup as much of that money as possible while they still can.
The fact that Klaassen has barely been used by Allardyce indicates that he isn’t part of the manager’s plans, and Everton would be best served by trying to sell him in January.
