Everton are closing in on their first signing of the January transfer window, with striker Cenk Tosun set to join from Besiktas.

Tosun, who has scored eight goals in 18 league appearances this season, is set to make the switch to Goodison Park for £27 million, as reported by BBC Sport.

Bringing in Tosun is a good move as Everton manager Sam Allardyce looks to make sure that his side are more effective up front, but it will be intriguing to see whether The Toffees rekindle their interest in another Besiktas player.

Everton were linked with Oguzhan Ozyakup in November, as reported by The Sun, and perhaps it would be beneficial for Allardyce to attempt to bring in the midfielder, who would look to resume his impressive connection with Tosun if the deal go ahead.

A player with an excellent passing range, Ozyakup would give Everton increased creativity in midfield and would relish the opportunity to prove himself in the Premier League having previously spent time at Arsenal’s academy before electing to join Besiktas.

It will be intriguing to see what further signings Allardyce makes this month as he looks to put his own stamp on the Everton squad, but securing a deal for Ozyakup would be a wise move.
