Toffees boss Ronald Koeman will be looking to strengthen his squad in pretty much every department this summer, as he looks to build a group capable of making a sustained push for the Champions League spots.

The Dutchman has installed a high-energy, intense pressing style into his side, but on occasion, they seem to be too one-dimensional, making them predictable and easy to play against.

With this in mind, they should consider making a move for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini, with the 29-year-old’s future at Old Trafford far from certain.

The Belgian spent five years at Goodison Park, earning the tag of fan favourite, before making his £27.5 million switch to United in 2013.

The 6ft 5 in intentional has endured his fair share of criticism throughout the years, but his direct influence on his team’s performances cannot be under-estimated.

Sometimes clumsy in defensive areas, Fellaini could be utilised further up the pitch for Everton, and would help provide them with a different facet to their attacking play.

His strength and height would offer Koeman the option of playing with more physicality through the middle, and the majority of Blues fans would surely love to see Fellaini back in action at Goodison.

Everton would also have the option of playing with a more direct style with Fellaini in the side, rather than just sticking to their sometime laborious and monotonous passing style.

Fellaini only has one year remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford, so Jose Mourinho could surely be tempted into sanctioning his exit, rather than risk losing him for nothing next year.

And if Koeman managed to bring him to Merseyside, it could turn out to be quite the coup.
