Rangers winger Eros Grezda was left out of the squad for the 1-0 win over Celtic at Ibrox.
Rangers beat Celtic 1-0 at Ibrox this weekend to move level on points with the Bhoys at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
The Gers were superb throughout, and could have won by an even bigger margin, but it was Ryan Jack’s first half goal which wrapped up the win.
Everybody connected with Rangers has been jubilant after the win, but one Gers player may not be feeling too great after Saturday’s game.
Winger Eros Grezda wasn’t even named in the squad for the game, omitted entirely for the second game running by boss Steven Gerrard.
The Albanian was also hooked at half time against St Mirren on the 23rd of December and hasn’t been seen since, even with Rangers lacking attacking options.
Yes, Ryan Kent returned on Saturday, but 18-year-old Glenn Middleton was the only winger on the bench, and Gerrard named three defenders – a centre back and two full backs – as substitutes instead of Grezda.
The summer signing from Croatian side Osijek has struggled to make a real, consistent impact with Rangers, and with no word of an injury, Gerrard clearly isn’t impressed right now.
Grezda may now need to fight for his Rangers future, as some players in recent times have left Ibrox shortly after arriving. You only need to talk to Dalcio, Fabio Cardoso, Carlos Pena, Eduardo Herrera and Umar Sadiq about that.
Grezda isn’t a lost cause by any stretch, but he hasn’t yet justified his fee, and having become a forgotten man in the win over Celtic, he needs to come back fighting soon.
