With two goals in his last 13 games for Schalke, should Spurs be put off by Breel Embolo’s goalscoring record?

According to The Mirror, Spurs are eyeing up a January move for 20-year-old Schalke forward Breel Embolo, however, should Spurs be put off by Embolo’s poor goalscoring record?

Since making the switch from Basel to Schalke in 2016, Embolo has been struggling in front of goal, notching just two goals in 13 appearances for the German club.
The 20-year-old striker is yet to hit the back of the net this season having misfired in all of his six appearances so far this season.

Embolo’s struggles in front of goal form extend to an international level, with the Swiss youngster netting just twice in 19 international caps, although many of those appearances have seen him deployed out wide rather than through the centre.
With such a poor goalscoring record for an attacking player, Embolo wouldn’t really be an upgrade on Son Heung-min, who is also battling for a spot in the first-team and for the fee Schalke are likely to command, Spurs are certainly better off looking elsewhere.
